We have now been given details from the Xbox E3 event about the changed to Xbox Live.
Players will now be able to edit, add commentary and share videos using Upload Studio. You can also share videos and live broadcasts through Twitch! Another improvement is you can also now have as many Xbox Live friends as you want! Also, you will be able to share some of the features of your live membership. Microsoft Points will also be scrapped and will be replaced with Playstation's approachof having everything in your local currency. Yes, that's right. TeamXbox are not yet finished with the Xbox 360 yet. At the beginning of the Xbox E3 event, it was revealed that there will be a new Xbox 360 console available from today!
They are saying that it will be smaller and quieter, and is based on the Xbox One design. Of course, this makes perfect sense as current games are taking their toll on the current Xbox 360s and they don't want to lose profit as a company from the product that makes them so much money. Especially with the current status of Xbox One backwards compatibility being nil! They have also told us that there will be hundreds of upcoming Xbox 360 games, and that Xbox Live will be taking on the Playstation Plus approach of offering 2 free games a month for Xbox Live Gold members. Also, Microsoft Points shall be scrapped and instead replaced with just the local currency, again like with Playstation. We do not know yet what will happen to current Microsoft Points, but rumors are that any current Microsoft Points on your account will be exchanged for the cash value. Games to be coming out in the future for the Xbox 360 include:
Hey guys and girls, I know alot of you (and us) have been waiting to hear exactly what Microsoft have to say about a few certain features regarding Kinect, Pre-Owned Games, Backwards Compatibility, and the always-online feature. Over the past couple of days more and more information has been said and explained, so here for you all is my round up on what you can expect your Xbox One to be able to do (or in some cases, not do). KINECT Firstly, lets clear up any controversy about Kinect. This device is going to be always connected to your Xbox One and the console will not work without it, and whilst is may not be always watching, it is always listening. Even when the console is off, Kinect will run in a low-power state and will only listen out for users voices stating ‘Xbox On’. Besides from that, it won’t be watching you sleep, and it won’t be listening to every conversation you have. Nor will you have to use Kinect to control everything on your dashboard. Whilst Microsoft have stated that it will be quicker to use the voice option, you will be able to navigate around the dashboard and menus using Smartglass for IOS, Android and Windows phones, and the method that I’m sure most of you use at the moment- using the controller. All options regarding Kinect (such as data it does record (photos, your heart rate etc) can be disabled in the dashboard. This can be disabled during the Kinect setup process, where you can personalise things such as having it sign you in when it recognises your face. It can’t be completely turned off, but it can be paused and this will disable the body and voice sensing properties of the device. ALWAYS ONLINE As for the console being always online, this is very much a double edged sword at the moment. In statements made by Microsoft and its employees, it is understood that you will be able to play games online on your primary console for up to 24 hours, but will then need to connect so it can continue to ensure that the person playing has the licence to play that game. If your using a different console (So if you’ve gone round your friends house to play Battlefield 4 etc) then this console will connect every hour. As for what happens if your internet is disconnected for any reason after these allotted time frames is at the moment unknown- if the console decides to boot you off your single-player campaign because the phone mast outside your house toppled over in the middle of the night I can’t see people reacting well to this. But when I know, you will know. But Microsoft have stated that this doesn’t make your console obsolete, you can still use it to play DVDs/Blu-Rays and TV. BACKWARDS COMPATABILITY With regards to your current game collection on Xbox 360 and Xbox Live Arcade, if you want to play any of these on your Xbox One, you can’t. At all. So unless you decide to keep your Xbox 360 to work alongside the Xbox One, you may as well trade in all your games, and give Minecraft one last play because Xbox One will not play them. No 360 or arcade titles work on the Xbox One due to different computing architecture in the system and at the moment it seems they are not going to move on this. THE GAMES When it comes to your Xbox One games, you are going to be a little more limited about what you can and can’t do with them. When you buy any Xbox One game (such as Forza 5 for instance) you have the rights to that disk and copy. You can play it on your console, and any console provided you are signed in on your profile. If you decide to leave it at a friend’s house so they can play it, they will be able to but only on your account. If you are giving the game to a friend permanently, that’s fine, but a game can only be given once- and that person has to have been on your Xbox Live friends list for 30 days first. They can’t give it back to you either. That right to give your game can only be used once per copy of game. If you decide you want to trade in your game, at the moment it is unclear. As it stands, Microsoft Studio’s games will be able to be traded at ‘participating retailers’, and third-party publishers have control over trading-in policies. They may choose whether or not game trades, resells and/or gifting of games is allowed or not, and gamers will more than likely have to pay some sort of fee to play used games. It’s also worth noting that all games released for Xbox One will be available as both digital and disk on day of release. When you do get a game for the Xbox One and install it to your-the primary- console, anyone can play that game on that console. Also, Microsoft have stated that upto 10 ‘family’ members can be given access to a users game libary. This will mean that any 2 people on that list can play the game as the same time. I also beleive this can be stretched to allow some friends access to your games as well, but again, this is very unclear and hopefully I’ll be able to shed some light on how this will work. I will be in touch with more information as and when I get it. Till then, ill see you online! |
